1
Sithu Aye
Set Course For Andromeda
After my first listen of this album I simply could not stop. It's an awesome musical journey beginning to end. Easily the most listened to album of the year for me.
2
Fallujah
Dreamless
Loved the heavy face melting riffs of this album. Their previous effort was good but they outdid themselves with this materpiece.
3
Meshuggah
The Violent Sleep of Reason
This album has some ridiculous metal riffs that make your face look like you ate something sour. Did we expect anything different?
4
Gojira
Magma
Probably the most complete album of the year. Gojira never fails to disappoint.
5
Haken
Affinity
This album is a ridiculously fun effort all around. Do yourself a favor and go watch the music video for "Earthrise."
6
After The Burial
Dig Deep
Just so ridiculously heavy.
7
If Trees Could Talk
The Bones of a Dying World
The best post rock album of the year hands down.
8
Biffy Clyro
Ellipsis
This was a late release in the year but I could not stop listening to this album. I must admit, this band has not put out an album I disliked.
9
Norma Jean
Polar Similar
This album made it on this list because it's a solid piece of music from beginning to end. This album had stickiness and I had it in constant rotation all of 2016.
10
Deftones
Gore
My favorite band from middle school is still making solid music. One of the few bands from that time I think is still making good music. Nostalgia had a part in making this list, but this effort is just good.
